27th June 2015

Had to go into London today, and managed 2 red kites over the M3, increasing my annual total so far to 15. Also had a single ring-necked parakeet from the car window in the evening.

20th June 2015

Visited a few sites around Portland today, which provided about as little as you might expect. Best were the Little Terns at ferrybridge. Also a noticable increase in the numbers of Sandwich Terns in the area since my last visit.

Field Grasshopper? I always find insect ID hard to pick up again after the Winter Months.

A quick check at Sutton Bingham Reservoir on the way home provided 2 mistle thrushes, but otherwise little more than photo opportunities of rooks!

13th June 2015

Took the 2.5 hour trip to Pagham Harbour today. After about 2 hours of watching from Chruch Norton, the HUDSONIAN WHIMBREL flew down in front of the crowds, offering close-range viewing, showing the brown rump, longer bill and more distictive head markings. I beleive that this is the 10th british record and my forth North American wader species seen so far this spring.

Also present were Common, Sandwich and 2 Little Terns, 3 bar-tailed godwits, good numbers of avocets and whimbrels and 2 singing lesser whitethroats which were both heard only unfortunatly.

8th June 2015

Had my 13th red kite of the year while walking down Stiby Road, Yeovil today. That means that I've seen 2 over Yeovil so far this year which is great because I've only previously seen 1 here.

6th June 2015

Went to Sutton Bingham Res this morning, but the night heron didn't show, so headed to Morden Bog to have a look around.

Had my first spotted flycatcher of the year, 3 hobbys and 3 dartford warblers, 2 of which showed at close range allowing good photo opportunities.

Returned to sutton bingham this evening, but left about 10 minutes too early before the night heron showed!

5th June 2015

Had a singing Nightingale on Yeovil Openspace this morning; Yet another fantastic suburban record produced by this site. Oddly enough, I saw it in the exact same spot where I have seen lesser whitethroat, redstart and pied flycatcher in previous years. Also present was a female green woodpecker and a male bullfinch.
