14th March 2015

First stop was Portland Bill to look for the firecrests, but it was quickly apparent that I should have got there earlier in the morning for them. However, I heard that there was a black redstart by the lighthouse, so I drove over there and treaded the quarry area systematically, again having no luck! However, I did have some good views of close in gannets.

Next stop was The Grove to look for the hooded crow. We had to drive up and down the road for a while before we even found the right place, but unfortunetly, we couldn't stay there long enough to see it. It was made up for partly by an unexpected Black Redstart on the fence to the football pitch though.

We Parked at the lower car park at Lodmoor RSPB, and walked up to see the two Spoonbills which were feeding in the water next to the footpath. Also had an Avocet and a Marsh Harrier.

Wow! A Three-legged Spoonbill!
Though I wonder why the 3rd leg is white... Oh wait...
