21st February 2015

We headed off as soon as we could this morning, though due to circumstances, we left at 0930 hrs. We arrived in Cardiff later that morning, and parked up at Forest Farm. From the rather open hide, we had 2 female reed bunting, before eventually the 1st winter Little Bunting came out and started to feed on seed that had been put down in front of the hide. It gave astonishingly close views alongside female reed buntings for comparison.

Next Stop was Slimbridge WWT to look for the female ferrouginous duck, but couldn't locate it on the asain pen, the south lake or from the Holden Tower Hide. However, we did have good numbers of White-Fronted Geese and Bewick's Swans, 2 colour-ringed Common Cranes, 1 Pink-footed Goose along with the usual wildfowl species.
